President & Chief Appraiser
Jacob "Jake" Cutler, ARA
Jake has over a decade of diverse agribusiness experience. His appraisal and consulting practice focuses on farm and ranch land, permanent plantings, agricultural facilities, and other rural and special use properties. He is a licensed certified general appraiser in California, Arizona, and Hawaii. Jake formed Grattan Park Inc., a specialty agricultural appraisal practice in 2022. Jake maintains an office in Visalia and San Diego.
Jake began his career with Prudential Agricultural Investments in Fresno, California. During eight years with Prudential, Jake quickly advanced from an agricultural loan analyst to loan officer responsible for a mortgage portfolio more than $500 million. His geographic territory included the south half of California, from Stanislaus County to Imperial / Yuma Counties and included the San Joaquin Valley, Central Coast, South Coast, and Desert regions. More recently Jake held senior agricultural appraiser roles with Colliers International and CBRE, Inc.
Jake has extensive knowledge of permanent plantings including citrus, nut crops (almonds, walnuts, pistachios, pecans, hazelnuts), tree fruit, grapes (wine, table, raisin), row crops, vegetable crops, and specialty permanent plantings such as kiwi, macadamia, coffee, and dates. Jake is also very experienced in the valuation of agribusiness facilities including cold storage, packing sheds, and greenhouses.
Jake is also a subject matter expert on California and Arizona water rights. He has a firm grasp on the relative priorities and reliability of dozens of water and irrigation districts that crisscross California and Arizona. Through his decades of experience, he has unique knowledge of localized groundwater conditions and familiarity with SGMA and the GSP process. This water knowledge is critical to expert valuation and consulting.
Jake also has seven years of valuation experience in Hawaii. He has developed a specialty valuation practice focusing on rural and agricultural valuation in the Aloha State, a property type which has been underserved by local commercial appraisers. He is the only active appraiser with an ARA designation.
Jake is the third generation in his family to be involved in the agricultural industry. When he is not appraising, he is involved with his family’s farming operation in Tulare, Fresno, and Yuma Counties or chasing after his three kids!
