Murchison Falls National Park
Murchison falls national park is the largest wildlife reserve in the country and because of this it houses more than 76 species of mammals and 451 species of birds. The park has more Rothschild Giraffes than anywhere else in Africa that live together with vast herds of elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes. The place is also territory to flesh eating cats such as lions, leopards that engage in survival war with hyenas. While on a boat cruise along the River Nile you will see enormous Nile Crocodiles and a great number of Hippos. The boat ride leads to the bottom of the Murchison falls where you can disembark and hike to the top of the falls. The park is one of the best birding locations in all of Africa with over 451 recorded species; the thick forests add little bit of mystery to the place.
Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is home of endangered rhinos that can be found on the way to Murchison Falls national park. There is this deep exhilarating experience you feel when you track rhinos on foot with armed guides. You get to swamp boat ride in search of wild birds in search of shoebill stocks and other water birds.
Kibale Forest National Park
Kibale Forest is a jungle that forms part of the intimidating Congolese that border Uganda. This very peaceful and quiet place is the best jungle in all of East Africa for Chimpanzee Tracking. A world different from Uganda’s savannahs and semi-arid plains, Kibale national park is home to various primate Species including almost 1,500 Chimpanzees and other species of mammals such as Forest Buffaloes, Hippos, Warthogs and dangerous cats. It is also home to other activities such as hiking near Crater Lakes, Cave hunting, and cultural Visits. The park is also a favorite for birders visiting Uganda with over 370 recorded species.
Semuliki National Park
Semuliki National park is home to the popular Sempaya Hot Springs situated in an expanse of hot mineral curmudgeonly swamp land. From this place you will boil food in the boiling pool which will be ready to eat in 10 minutes. Semuliki National Park Uganda is a unique wildlife safari destination because of its more than 60 mammal species, exceptional diversity of small mammals including 435 bird species and about 374 species of butterflies and moths. Visitors are advised to carry their fishing gadgets for sport fishing along the rivers.
Queen Elizabeth National Park
This 2200 square kilometers wild territory is teeming with over 95 species of African wildlife from large mammals like elephants and buffaloes to flesh eating cats like leopards and the rare and famous tree climbing lions of Ishasha. Many of the smaller cats are nocturnal therefore it is best to view them during exciting and adventurous nocturnal game drives. 620 species of birds call this park home together with a variety of reptiles including crocodiles and Monitor Lizards. At your behest, you can also see this wildlife and birds while on a boat cruise along Kazinga Channel.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
There are a couple of exciting things to do and see in the old and mysterious Bwindi Impenetrable Forest because it’s the only park in Africa where Chimpanzees and gorillas coexist. This UNESCO world heritage supports over 120 species of mammals including primates such as the Mountain Gorillas (you can spend up to four hours with these beautiful creatures) and Chimpanzees, various monkeys, Baboons, Forest Elephants, wild pigs and hogs, several small species of Cats and over 348 birds. You will be delighted by the 2 – 3 hour cultural walks through one of the villages that enable you to learn the ways and culture of the local people that live on the edge of the forest.
Lake Mburo National Park
The smallest park in the country is about 4 hours drive from Kampala. However, size is not an issue because Lake Mburo National Park is home to remarkably different fauna and flora. The park is in the one part of Uganda that is covered in extensive acacia woodland that camouflages antelopes, buffaloes, zebras (this is one of the few places in Uganda where you can find zebras) and hyenas accompanied by wild cats. Visitors can experience a great Ugandan safari in this park by engaging in boat rides on one of the many lakes within the area that house hippos, crocodiles and a variety of water birds. If the water ride was not enjoyable enough, you get to have guided safari walks with the company of an armed guide. Visitors planning to sport fish should have their own fishing equipment.
Kidepo Valley Park
Kidepo Valley National Park is a must go to place for those that want to experience the meaning of raw African safaris. Fly in or drive to this distant park to experience nature in its quiet and undisturbed state. Kidepo Valley Park doesn’t attract large crowds making this the right place to simply enjoy alone time with beautiful and stunning scenery that takes your breath away. Embark on day and night game drives through bushes in a park that has an abundance of large and small wildlife and an absence of human civilization. Here you can also find and mingle with the interesting and mind boggling nomadic karamojong people.
Cultural Attractions In Kampala
A trip to Kampala wouldn’t be complete without seeing its top attractions. We believe that those interested in inhaling different cultural histories and practices will definitely enjoy what the city has to offer. While here, get to visit old religious sites like the mother Temple of the Bahai, a unique architectural masterpiece sitting on 52 acres of land and completed in 1961. Visit is the biggest and the oldest Museum in Uganda which was founded in 1908. Enjoy a tour of Ugandan history and treasures of Uganda like musical instruments, archaeology and ethno history.
Entebbe Attractions
Entebbe is a colonial town located on the shores of Lake Victoria. Its botanical gardens were established in 1898 and are home to over 300 varieties of exotic plant species as well as an abundance of endangered wildlife and birdlife. Close by is the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre. This is a centre for recaptured, human bred and rehabilitated animals that have been rescued from poachers or illegal traders, or from injury in their wild habitats. In Entebbe, you find Ngamba Island Chimpanzee sanctuary island which is a refuge for over 40 rescued chimpanzees. You get to experience the chimpanzees at a close range but make sure you have all the necessary vaccinations. Entebbe next to lake Victoria (the largest lake in Africa) therefore there are boats that allow you to enjoy beautiful sunset rides or sport fishing.
Jinja Attractions
Jinja town is also located at the shores of Lake Victoria and is the source of River Nile, the second longest river in the world. The flow of the river leads into Bujagali Falls, the area most popular for white water rafting activities. The town also has beaches that have been exploited for tourism developments, especially hotels. These beaches include the sites at Sailing Club, Tilapia Club and Masese. Jinja has numerous community markets operating on various days are big attractions particularly to foreign tourists. Crafts shops, workshops and community groups are common in Jinja town and its suburbs, making mats, baskets and other souvenirs from papyrus and other natural materials.
